I was always very active and always liked athletics. When I was a kid I was playing hockey and in my teens I was into martial arts. I was pretty lean and small right until I got injured during the sparring with my best friend. I ended up spending two weeks in the hospital as the result of this injury and then I had to quit martial arts. Unfortunately, at that point not only I quit martial arts but also stopped doing any physical activities and became fairly sedentary. I am a typical Endomorph which means I gain weight pretty quickly and most of that weight is not muscle. Really quickly I gained about fifty pounds and got really fat. It did not really bother me but I knew that I would have to do something about it at some point.
My wake up call was when my father-in-law passed away at the age of 45. That’s what got me thinking about getting back in shape. I started running and playing hockey again. I quickly lost a lot of weight but then I got injured during a hockey game and for a long time could not even walk without a lot of pain. This was a major set back for me and I gained a lot of weight again.
It took me about eight months to recover to the point when I was able to work out again. Right around that time a good friend of mine suggested that I should try P90X. I decided to give it a try and absolutely loved this program. I did the whole program and was amazed with the results. I lost a lot of weight and went down a few sizes. I did P90X two more times back-to-back and eventually got to my target weight of 176 lbs and about 8% body fat.
I can definitely say that P90X has changed my life and I signed up to be a Beachbody coach so that I could help others achieve the same results that I did. A few months ago I started my own blog where I talk about various fitness-related topics including nutrition, workout routines, workout gear, supplements, etc. I also occasionally train some of my friends.
